think about communications by offering consumers and businesses an affordable alternative

the new generation of phone service with low-cost, feature-rich residential and business calling plans.
Vonage History:
Vonage was founded in February 2001. At the time, they had approximately 60+ employees with founders Jeffrey Citron as the Chairman and CEO
and Carlos Bhola, President.
Per PC Magazine on November 11, 2001 in an article written by Brian Watson...
After the September 11 destruction of the World Trade Center in New York City, many businesses turned
to Vonage VoIP Telephony as the restoration of traditional phone lines was a slow process.
"Vonage worked with data-services provider Everest Broadband Networks to provide VoIP service
for emergency workers at the disaster site. Carlos Bhola, president of Vonage, says that
"test run" for VoIP was a hit. Although he doesn't plan on using this experience as a marketing
tool, he says VoIP has gained added credibility and continues to raise the stakes in efficiency
and customer service."
In an article written by Rob McGann and Ivan Castano; May 3, 2001 on thedeal.com...
"Edison, N.J.-based Vonage Inc. has secured $12 million in first-round financing
contributed by unnamed angel investors. The company is developing a platform for
efficiently delivering sending voice communications over the Internet. Vonage
will use the funding to complete development of its product. www.thedeal.com"
Unlike today where Vonage offers an almost unlimited supply of area codes, in mid 2002,
Vonage offered only a limited amount of area codes - approximately 79 in total limited
to California, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Texas.
At the time, Vonage projected that by the end of 2002 they would add area codes for
approximately 17 major cities / metro areas in the US.
In January 2003 Vonage had reached a 10,000 subscriber level in a total of 27 states.
Also in early 2003 Vonage rolled out a new web site and continued to add to its service area including
the launching the availability of its service in St. Louis and Phoenix in Febuary, 2003.
By June of 2004, Vonage expanded to offer area codes for 40 US states and many areas
Canada. Also in June of 2004, Vonage reached another mile marker with its customers
using a total of 1 billion minutes across its network. It was also at this time that the Vonage
subscriber count reached an amazing 100,000 considering the year before Vonage had only 10,000 subscribers.
By early 2005, Vonage reported that they had approximately 500,000 subscribers, adding about 15,000
new subscribers a week.
Today, Vonage (NYSE: VG) claims to be the #1 US VoIP provider and with its number of subscribers at 2,058,000
as of the 3rd quarter in 2006, it certainly has a majority of the VoIP subscribers. In their 3rd
