ViaTalk History:

ViaTalk is a division of a well known and well established hosting company, HostRocket.com. Both companies are lead on a daily basis by Brader with assistance from Timothy Dick who serves as Vice President of Operations and John Reyes who serves as Chief Technical Officer.

HostRocket.com, Inc., is a privately owned, multi-million dollar corporation located in Upstate New York that was founded in 1999. Today, the company provides shared web hosting services to approximately 50,000 top websites. In addition, the company serves hundreds of additional clients by providing services such a dedicated hosting, e-commerce hosting, collocation, and application hosting. At the end of May 2005, ViaTalk launched its broadband phone service in a beta setting to the approximately 10,000 members of the company’s pre-launch group, VT_Unlimited. ViaTalk was initially offered in approximately 2,200 major metro markets in 50 states throughout the United States. At the time, Brendan Brader, HostRocket Chief Executive Officer was quoted as saying...

In June of 2005, ViaTalk entered their beta release 2 and continued to improve their service based on the valuable feedback provided by their customers. Within a short time they entered their beta phase III, again continuing to improve their service and products.

In September of 2005, ViaTalk announced that they would be contributing 5% of their revenue generated from September 6, 2005 through September 12, 2005 to the Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund of the American Red Cross.

In December of 2005, ViaTalk entered its Beta 4 stage (pretty fast work!) and continued to enhance their service with features resulting from customer feedback. Those features included:

  4. Verbal Error Messages for Easy Troubleshooting

  9. Improvements to DTMF
  10. Option to Disable Voicemail
  11. Anonymous Call Blocking
Also in December of 2005, HostRocket and ViaTalk showed its commitment to enhancing the communities in which they do business in. Company executives met with officials from St. Coleman’s in Watervliet, NY and discovered that many of the children in the center were in need of holiday gifts. HostRocket and ViaTalk then purchased a myriad of the much-needed holiday gifts for the children in the center including Portable CD Players, DVD Players, Razor Scooters, and other similar items from the "Wish Lists" that the kids made.

In February of 2006, ViaTalk rolled out even more enhancements to its service including...

  • Added functionality to allow you to set up a "Do Not Disturb" schedule which prevents calls during certain hours
  • Completely redesigned online account control panel
  • Separated the incoming and outgoing call logs for better customer call record management
  • Made numerous website updates to better highlight plans and options available
  • Enhanced communication
